The aim of the competition is to promote the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (hereinafter – GHG emissions) by supporting the introduction of vehicles in Latvia that, by their design, use energy from electricity stored in the vehicle or a propulsion storage device as the sole mechanical propulsion (hereinafter – electric vehicle), energy from hydrogen stored in the vehicle (hereinafter – hydrogen vehicle) and use energy from electricity stored in the vehicle or a propulsion storage device as the mechanical propulsion, but also have an internal combustion engine installed, and the total GHG emissions are up to 50 g CO₂/km in accordance with the weighted combined cycle of the globally harmonized light vehicle testing procedure (hereinafter – externally chargeable hybrid vehicle).
